Zgornje Jezersko lies in an Alpine valley in the north of Slovenia, surrounded by the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and right by the Austrian border. One of the central excursion spots is Planšarsko jezero, from where views open towards the surrounding peaks.
From the valley, mountain paths lead towards Češka koča, Kranjska koča na Ledinah, Grintovec and Kočna, while in winter the snow-covered slopes are used by ski tourers and cross-country skiers. The Jezersko homesteads and the native Jezersko-Solčava sheep preserve the alpine pastoral identity of the valley.
