Žalec

Žalec is the land of green gold, that is, of hops. Getting to know this land is made possible, among other things, by the Pekel forest and geological educational trail and by the hop trail. The latter includes all the more important sights of Žalec: the Novo Celje manor, the Vrbje pond, the archaeological park with the largest Roman tombs in Šempeter and, of course, the hop plantations. A very popular excursion point for many mountaineers and those seeking recreation is Bukovica with its mountain lodge, and the Ponikva karst with its gem, the Pekel cave.
