Lake Bohinj

The surroundings of Bohinj are an image of a typical Alpine landscape, of idyllic mountain pastures and highland pastures, which are mirrored in the translucency of Lake Bohinj.

The lake, which is our largest, is 4100 long and 1200 metres wide and 45 metres deep, and quite a few different plant and animal species have found their living space in it.

The clear lake water is attractive for bathing and rowing; a boat, canoe or kayak can be hired right at the boathouses by the lake.

The main surface inflow of the lake is the Savica, which rises in the picturesque waterfall of the same name below the Komarča wall. Bohinj, which is held to be the pearl of the Julian Alps, is an excellent starting point for mountain wanderings around the Triglav National Park.
