We can begin cycling anywhere in the Lipnica valley, and Bled, Lesce and Radovljica are not far either; only a few more kilometres have to be done, so to speak, on the level. This time the two of us began at Kamna Gorica for a simple reason, to avoid asphalt after the end of an exceptionally fine descent. At Zgornja Lipnica we turn onto the road for Talež or rather the Jelovica. This main thoroughfare onto the plateau has a very well marked route all the way to the Partisan Lodge on the Vodice mountain pasture, so we simply surrender ourselves to the signposts, first to Goške Ravni and then to Vodice. The climb lasts about an hour and a half, depending of course on one's breath. For those pleasure-seeking cyclists there are quite a few stopping places (Talež, Goška ravan and Vodice), where they can lose a few minutes. For more adventurous cyclists, however, the route to Vodice can be completely different and runs along one of the numerous paths on the Jelovica. But in the latter case a WARNING applies: without a good map, nowhere. For I know quite a few who have »gone round in circles« on the plateau, where all the junctions are the same. After a rest on the Vodice mountain pasture we descend across the pasture onto a very good cart track straight on towards the quarry and Kamna Gorica. There are turnings in all directions; we keep to the more rutted narrow cart track. After about five minutes we come to the signposts for Kropa and Kamna Gorica. Both are correct only with the first we must later keep more to the left, the route is less steep, and we come in any case later onto the same route. Care must be taken not to turn right later towards Kropa. The turning towards Kamna Gorica is steeper and technically demanding, but in its entirety very nicely rideable. The cart track ends rather too soon and we come to a forest road. Along it we ride out two hairpins and then again on a left bend- right back into the forest. Here a short traverse and a slightly poorer cart track await us, but likewise nicely rideable. Towards the end, to the right, along a less visible path, we avoid at least part of the exceptionally wet route, which however brings us past Miklavževec to the main road in the Lipnica valley. For those who are not lovers of forest descents there still exists the variant along the road through the quarry and into the valley.
A tour that takes us across the Jelovica plateau, almost to its eastern edge. It runs along a forest road and is therefore suitable for hot summer days too. The descent towards Kamna Gorica is very flowing and fast, and the surface is excellent.
