Sevnica castle - presentation
The mighty Sevnica castle stands on a hill above the old city center of Sevnica. First owned by the Princess Ema Krška, it was then obtained by the Salzburg archbishops and changed hands several times more.
The castle has an expansive garden with several terraces, and the interior is sure to charm any visitor with its detailed works of art, especially the baroque frescoes of the four seasons. Today, the castle halls contain a magnificent conference hall, the School and Firefighting Museum, the Museum of Exiles, a wedding hall and an exhibition gallery.
Many cultural events are organized in the castle, and the many legends and anecdotes about it give it an air of mystery. Some of these legends are also connected to the former Protestant prayer hall, the Lutheran Cellar.
