Pokljuka
Pokljuka is a high karstic plateau in the eastern part of the Julian Alps. Covered by forests, it is one of the most beautiful parts of the Triglav National Park. The rolling terrain with hidden chasms, sinkholes, gorges and valleys was shaped by the glaciers that once covered the region. The area is one of the southernmost high bogs in Europe. Pokljuka is the starting point of several mountain trails to the peaks of the Julian Alps. Cattle still graze on nearby plateaus, and visitors can always find delicious traditional food.
