The Lipizzaner horses - presentation
Since Roman times, Karst horses have been known for their strength, speed and endurance. The basis of the famous Lipizzaner horse breed is the indigenous Slovenian Karst horse which has been crossbred with Spanish, Neapolitan, Danish and Arabic horses. Born as black, brown or grey horses, they soon change colour and turn white.
Their graceful movement, elegant appearance and lively temperament allow Lipizzaners to be very well trained for riding. The Lipica stud farm is known all over the world for its well-bred Lipizanner horses.
In the times of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the Lipica stud farm was used by the Viennese court and the Spanish Riding Academy.
