Cave Pekel
Cave Pekel - presentation
North of Šempeter, one of the region's greatest natural treasures lies nestled in the bosom of the lone mountain Ponikovska planota – the karstic cave Pekel. It was carved out by the Ponikvica stream, which exits the cave as the Peklenščica.
An imposing stone devil stands at the entrance. The cave consists of two floors – the lower is criss-crossed by small streams while the other proudly displays many stalactites and stalagmites.
The most impressive feature is a four-meter waterfall, the highest underwater waterfall in Slovenia.
