Anonimno Mature couple 19.6.2013 at 12:34 PM“Good location, simple self-catering apartment.” We stayed in a self-catering apartment (no breakfast), which I think was in the newer extension to the original building at the side. This meant that everything was very new and clean, although perhaps a little lacking in personality. Good size apartment for two people, and balcony was lovely - even if the view was spoiled by the incessant rain and low clouds! Be aware the balcony does look out over the car park and is situated on the main road (which is not very busy to be fair) so it not the most picturesque balcony view, but when the clouds do lift you can see the snow topped peaks in the distance which is nice. I think some balconies look out over the forest at the back - not sure what this would be like... potentially a little dark. Reception staff were helpful and gave us advice on walks and helped us when we couldn't figure out the high-tech hob in our apartment! It was so quiet when we were there though (probably due to bad weather) and so not much atmosphere (barely saw any other guests). Bohinj itself was also quiet with all the cafes and bars shut because of the rain so I don't think we experienced the area at its best. The lake was stunning though, as was the Voje Valley and Mostnice Gorge nearby. I would say that Gasperin offers easy self-catering at reasonable value, but does not offer anything 'special' if that's what you're looking for. It has good location being walkable to the lake, and with various walks and cycle routes starting from the area. We didn't use it because of the weather but from the info it seemed you could hire bikes from there for much cheaper than local bike hire. I would recommend Gasperin, but it didn't wow us or give us a special experience as much as other places we stayed in Slovenia. Room Tip: Be aware that if you book a 'self-catering apartment' then you get all cooking equipment etc...9
