The Žirovnica municipality sits at the juncture of the Ljubljana basin and the Karavanke mountain chain. Covered by many walking and hiking trails, the Karavanke area is perfect for hiking and mountaineering, and Žirovnica is an excellent starting point for a journey to one of the nearby mountain lodges.
