Geographically, the Rogaška Slatina municipality lies in the eastern part of Upper Sotelsko.The landscape consists of dry valleys, vineyard-covered hills and the valley of the border river Sotla. Thermal water springs were found here in ancient times, and the Rogaška Slatina spa is considered one of the oldest and most important spas in Slovenia and Europe.

Tourists are also attracted to the Šmarsko – Virštanjska wine tourism road as well as many cultural and sporting events.
