The Žužemberk municipality lies in the central part of Suha krajina, by the upper part of the Krka river. Just underneath the castle, the river has created a picturesque waterfall. The cultural and historical heritage of the area is truly worth experiencing: the Žužemberk castle, the church of St. Nicholas, remnants of the Roman road, the restored blast furnace at Dvor, remnants of 'Venetian' settlements, mills, remnants of the paper mill and the tannery, Roman gravestones... There are countless opportunities for sports, boat rides or fishing, and the entire municipality is criss-crossed by hiking and cycling trails.
