Lukovica

The hilly Lukovica municipality covers the Radomlja river basin, from Prevoje pri Šentvidu all the way to Trojane. It is crossed by the Ljubljana – Maribor freeway, which was built exactly where the Roman Emona – Celeia road once ran. For several centuries, postal deliveries between Ljubljana and Graz went through this area. The forested hills are excellent hunting grounds for wild game, and there are plenty of fish in the waters of the Radomlja and its tributaries. Historical sources describe a fascinating past which has left the municipality with an impressive cultural heritage.
