Trapped between the Zasavje hills, the Sava valley has long entranced lovers of waters and rapids, so it is no surprise that kayakers and canoers have made it famous around Europe and even the world. Hiking also has a long tradition here, as evidenced by the nearby mountain lodges. Years of mining have left their own mark on the architecture and image of the city, and the creativity and inventiveness of its citizens have truly made it into a unique place.
