The municipality Dol pri Ljubljani lies in the far east of the Ljubljana basin, between the Sava river and the hills north of the Ljubljana – Litija road. Because of the many rivers and streams, the area has been settled since the dawn of man. The Roman road from Vrhnika to Celje ran past Dol as well. Several piers for boats and rafts were built on the river. For centuries, the locals have been famous for weaving straw braids and making straw hats. Dol is the home town of mathematician baron Jurij Vega and a good starting point for mountain cycling. Plenty of possibilities for recreation are also available at the Korant recreation center.
