Drava national park - presentation
The Drava National park comprises the old, natural bed of the Drava river and the area next to it between Maribor and Ptuj. The park protects the Drava's most ecologically significant biotopes such as the old river bed, small springs, flood forests and groves.
The habitats of rare and endangered flora and fauna (such as the sea buckthorn and the Zlatoličje nature reserve) are afforded special protection. Part of the Drava is on the list of internationally important bird habitats.
There are also several meadows that are covered by water during floods and full of life when the water recedes.
