Church of St. Rupert
Church of St. Rupert - presentation
In the central part of the Mirna valley stands one of the most beautiful gothic buildings in Slovenia, the church of St. Rupert. The church's interior is characterized by a system of ribbed arches and a typical long choir.
All rib junctions are decorated by stones in the shape of saints, coats of arms or rosettas. Built around the year 1400, the church boasts rich frescoes and a collection of paintings in the vestry of the massive bell tower.
Scattered around the Šentrupert church you'll find many markings, chapels and the Škrljevo castle, historically proven to have been owned by Ema Krška in 1044.
