Descrizione della strada

The route begins at the fire station in Majšperk. Head past the gas station toward Stoperce and Rogatec. A few hundred meters after a sharp right turn you will cross the Dravinja river. On the right bank of the river stands the Hamre manor. Cycle along the valley of the Skralska and Pesjak streams. After about four kilometers you will have the opportunity to take a short break in the Winettu valley... but hopefully you won not need to! Continue on your way toward Stoperce, past the church of St. Anthony the Hermit and toward Rogatec. Before the road begins to ascend, you will see a side road leading to the Zelena dolina restaurant on the right, as well as a side road leading to the Golob tourist farm on the left. After another three kilometers, it is time to say goodbye to level roads for a while! Coming up next is Stara Graba, an exhausting, kilometer-long ascent followed by a sweaty and dusty descent down a kilometer-long stretch of paved road. After that, you will finally return to level roads as you pass through the village of Tlake, heading past the outdoors ethnographic museum and to an intersection. There, turn left toward Žetale. This road goes through a valley and is surrounded by the Maclja mountains on the right as well as Donačka gora and Resenik on the left. You will start at 237m above sea level, and the highest point of this part of the route is at 405m. Therefore, if you are cycling during the summer, expect another hot, sweaty ascent, though you will at least have the opportunity to visit the church of St. Donat. The ascent ends at a sign welcoming you to Žetale. Those of you who are rather fit and have a mountain bike may take the forest road to Donačka gora, while the rest of you can enjoy a relaxing descent toward Žetale past the church of St. Sebastian. At the intersection by the communal building, turn left toward Majšperk. If you have run out of water (or out of energy), you can also rest for a few minutes at the restaurant Pod lipo. The final part of the route begins with a long ascent (two kilometers). At the top, you will have a beautiful view of the valley, the church of St. Mary the Consoler and the church of St. Michael. Then, it is time for a rather easy ascent and a last bit of cycling through the villages of Planjsko, Naraplje, and Stogovci. Cross the Dravinja, then go straight through the intersection, toward Stanečka vas. Eventually, you will reach Majšperk once again.

In Breg pri Majšperku there is a baroque castle called »Hamre« , which was originally the court of the Minorites of Ptuj. It was first mentioned in 1461, and passed into the hands of the local citizens in the 19th century. In Stoperce, you can find the church of St. Anthony the Hermit . The earliest records of this church date back to 1441. The original gothic building was rebuilt several times and renovated in the late 19th century. The statues on the main altar were sculpted around 1750 by Jožef Straub. The outdoor ethnographic museum in Rogatec shows the local architectural heritage and the lives of farmers in the Štajerska area in the 19th and early 20th century. The church of St. Donat, constructed between the years of 1716 and 1741 on the southern slope of Donačka gora, contains three altars: the main one is, unsurprisingly, dedicated to St. Donat, while the two side altars are dedicated to St. Mary and St. Isidore. The church of St. Mary the Consoler in Brezje pri Žetalah was built from the years 1716 to 1723, probably by men working under J. Fuchs. This mighty baroque building also has mighty baroque furniture: six baroque side altars, the main altar (carved at the end of the 17th century), and the famous church organ made in 1763 by Frančišek Janeški, an organist from Celje. The church of St. Sebastian beneath Resenik was built in 1414, when there was a massive plague epidemic in the area and many people prayed to St. Sebastian, the saint who protects against sudden illnesses. In Žetale, you can find the church of St. Michael , which combines the gothic style from the 15th century and the baroque style from the 18th century. The presbytery is covered by a cross-ribbed arch, and on the right side of the nave you can still see traces of frescos from the late gothic period of the 15th century.
