In the times when the property was still in the hands of baron Rosetti from Trieste, a very temperamental woman, who wasn't affraid of God nor of the Devil (Hudič), worked there as a housekeeper. Once she became very ill, but she would not hear of a priest, so the priest dressed up as a devil, trying to scare the housekeeper. When he stepped before her, she grabbed a gun and shot him...

From that time on, the farm on the foothills of Nanos mountain, where the brook Nanoščica lazily winds towards the forest, is known as Hudičevec.

However, that was the first and the last time that anything devil-like appeared in this beautiful place. Anyone spending time in Hudičevec can be served all day long with various fresh and carefully prepared food. With excellent wines that originate from the sunny side of Nanos and marry melodies of accordion are the nights even more amusing.

You have to spend quite a few days on the farm, to be able to see all the underworld beauties of karst (Postojna caves, Predjama castle, Park Škocianske jame), climb on the Nanos mountain, Snežnik or Vremščica, ride horses in Lipica, bycicle on the country or help on the farm.
