Aužlak House and Apartments

Aužlak House was one of the first houses in the village of Luče on the Savinja, as its existence goes back to before 1850. The house was later extended with an annexe, and then in 2022 we completely completely renovated, with a mind to preserving its own and the surrounding traditional features. We also kept the original name of the house, which comes from the German word Aufschlag, which means ‘toll/tollhouse’. In old times the house was probably the entry point into the valley, where visitors and merchants had to pay a fee for entry. There is, however, another meaning as well, namely that Žlak in the surrounding old dialect means place/spot, and fittingly the initials of the new owner are also AU, which would mean AUžlak, AU place/spot.
 

AUŽLAK APARTMENTS:

The renovation of the house and the fitting-out of the apartments fits in with its surroundings, as the apartments are named and thematically coloured after local landmarks.  There are 5 apartments available:

In the heart of the Upper Savinja Valley, at the meeting of the rivers Savinja and Lučnica, below the famous Raduha and the Dleskovec plateau, lies a compact village that has several times received the title of the best-kept village in Slovenia.

In 2019 Luče joined the international network Mountaineering Villages, which links Alpine tourist places committed to respect for the mountaineering tradition and to the sustainable development of tourism. It is an excellent starting point for sporting activities, walks, hikes into the mountains, cycling and exploring nature.
