Koča na Gozdu lies at an altitude of 1226 m and offers visitors first-class traditional Slovenian dishes, rooms for a rest from the demanding everyday and an excellent base for climbing the nearby hills.
Na Gozdu Hut is a mountain lodge right beside the road to the Vršič mountain pass. A perfect place for hiking, for ascents of the many mighty peaks of the Julian Alps, for climbing, skiing or simply relaxing in the shade of rustling larches. The location allows an active use of free time as well as a rest for motorcyclists and cyclists on their journey. By the lodge there is a large free car park.
From the terrace visitors can admire the view of the outline of Špik, Frdamane police and Prisank, in whose walls natural wonders are hidden, such as Prisojnik's window, through which the sun sometimes shines, and the rock monolith of the Pagan Girl, whose legend still circulates among the people today.
About a kilometre away is the famous Russian Chapel.
Accommodation
In the lodge you can enjoy a pleasant and comfortable stay in four rooms with their own bathroom. The rooms have basic equipment appropriate to a mountain lodge and, after all, to a rest from the demanding everyday. On the second floor we have two smaller and two larger family rooms. On that floor there is a shared bathroom for all four rooms.
