The SOČA TRAIL is a park educational trail that leads visitors of Triglav National Park along the Soča from its source towards Bovec. It is the oldest park trail of Triglav National Park. It links paths and quiet, less known parts of the Trenta and Soča valleys, away from the road and the noise. The Soča is the emerald thread of the trail and offers a view of all the known and less known natural values and cultural heritage in the valley. A special point of interest are the picturesque footbridges, on which we cross the river several times. Walking along the Soča Trail and a visit to the TNP Information Centre Dom Trenta offer an acquaintance with and an understanding of Triglav National Park.

The whole trail from the source of the Soča through the Trenta and Soča valleys all the way to the park boundary at Kršovec is around 20 kilometres long. At the park boundary the Soča Trail passes into one of the Bovec walking paths and brings us into Bovec. A visit to the Soča Trail can be adapted to our own time and purpose and we can see only that part which interests us most. The trail is marked with the characteristic TNP information posts, and at the information points there are explanatory boards. You can also arrange expert guiding with Triglav National Park.

The emblem of the Soča Trail is the endemic fish species the MARBLE TROUT (Salmo marmoratus). In Slovenia it inhabits mainly the Soča with its tributaries, the Reka and the Rižana.

The structures of the Rapallo border

The peaks above Podbrdo are known to many mountaineers for their exceptional flora, but many of them do not know that they are walking in the traces of the former border between Italy and Yugoslavia.

Podbrdo, a village in the farthest corner of the Baška grapa, is squeezed between the peaks of Porezen, Slatnik, Kobla and Črna prst, which are known for their rich mountain flora and wonderful views. Most visitors to these mountains remain unaware that they are treading the line of the former border between Italy and Yugoslavia.

After the end of the First World War, Italy, with the Treaty of Rapallo, concluded in 1920, temporarily acquired the territory of the Slovenian Littoral. Italian units then also occupied the Bača gorge, marked the border line with boundary stones and in those years, right up to the Second World War, built roads, barracks, bunkers and other fortifications on the peaks.


Today many of these structures have been overgrown by vegetation, while some are still visible and worth seeing:

• the shelter on Kup,
• the border stone on the summit of Bača,
• the barracks on Možic,
• the iron bunker on Lajnar,
• the Caposaldo shelter on Petrovo Brdo,
• the barracks on Lajnar,
• the fortress on the summit of Bača and many others.

Access is possible from the Baška grapa valley, as the Rapallo border ran along the hills and mountains above Baška grapa (Porezen, Slatnik, Kobla, Črna Prst).

Along the Rapallo border there are also shorter and longer guided excursions.
