Begunje na Gorenjskem, a typical village of the Gorenjska region, lies by the Begunjščica stream beneath the Karavanke and Kamniško-Savinjske Alps. Because of its lovely climate, it was once a popular resort. Today, it is definitely one of the most recognizable places in Slovenia, featured in many of Avsenik's songs. Well-known sights include the Draga valley, Castle Kamen, the world-famous factory Elan, Avsenik's gallery … and of course, practically everyone has heard of the restaurant Pri Jožovcu.
