The Logatec municipality lies in the heart of Notranjska, where the Julian and Dinaric Alps meet. The land is covered by huge forests which, along with important crossroads, shaped life in the region – especially transportation and wood industry. Traditional crafts (blacksmithing, cooperage, woodworking...) and agriculture (milk and meat production) have always been popular here. The road from Vrhnika to Logatec is called Napoleon's Avenue and is lined by 290 lime trees.
