In November, Ljubljana lives with LIFFe
Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe)is the most prominent film event in Slovenia. This year the festival will be held in five locations in Ljubljana – Cankarjev dom, Kinodvor, Slovenska kinoteka, Kinoklub Vič and Kino Šiška, and in one location in Maribor, Kolosej Maribor. With nearly 50,000 tickets sold last year, LIFFe is the biggest event in the yearly programme of Cankarjev dom, Slovenia's central cultural and congress center. Festival's goals are to bring the audience an overview of contemporary world film production, to inform about award winning films abroad, to represent unusual film explorations, and also, to show movies that might lack supreme artistic value but still represent important mass culture creations.
Festival movies are divided into several programme sections. The competitive section, calledPerspectives, represents new authors,Avant-premieres, represents movies that are already purchased for distribution in Slovenia, theKings and Queenssection is devoted to award winning authors of contemporary cinema and theWorld Film Panoramasection is a great choice if you're interested in diverse cinematografy throughout the world. Other categories feature movies that address sensual topis, those focused on specific cinematographies, those that are meant as a tribute to recognised filmmakers and many other types.
This years new section,Cinema-Integralpresents an overview of short experimental film. With a few exceptions, most of the tickets are available for 4.9€, discounts are available for those under 25, the seniors, and for buying packet tickets.
