Slovene Railways have 1196 km of railway tracks; the railway network covers the whole country. By means of comfortable modern trains the tourist can reach any tourist resort or starting places for mountain trips, skiing or visit the seaside.
 

Transport by train is especially interesting for groups of people due discounts for the young and groups of 50%. Additional discounts can be granted on the basis of family tickets, InterRail tickets for the young, etc.
 

Especially popular are IC Intercity trains, which are fast, comfortable and cheap with a network of lines between all major cities/towns of Slovenia. Most of them are headed further on to the neighbouring countries.

To the Posočje Region and the town Nova Gorica a museum train connection on the old Bohinj railway track by means of a steam locomotive is available during the tourist season. The travel by this train is a welcome enrichment during the holiday season.
