Slovenia as a new Fashion destination?
From 2nd till 4th April Ljubljana was the scene of several fashion shows, interesting lectures and designer´s workshops that attracted fashion followers from near and far. The renovated Kino Šiška was transformed into a temple of fashion.Yes, Ljubljana hosted Philips Fashion Week!
Even if tickets could not be bought the event was full of visitors and the goal of organizers was reached. Familiar fashion designer names likeJelena Proković, Nina Šušnjara,Marjeta Grošelj,Nataša Peršuh,Nataša Hrupič,Akultura,Gachoas well as young talents - Katja Magister, Ivan Rocco, Alice Bossman, Anđela Lukanović and others presented their creations, some of them masterpieces, within 3 days of FW.
If you are wondering what the Autumn/Winter 2012 trends are I can say that from what I have seen lots of natural and artificial leather, blue and black, mustard yellow, masculine coats, jumpersuits, patterns, pastel colours, brown, big bags and ˝romantic rock stlye˝.
Philips Fashion Week is a great opportunity for slovene and international companies to promote their production. Major corporations such as Philips, Renault, Nivea, Schwarzkopf, Nupo as well as Slovene Jeruzalem Ormož, Maxi and Mic Styling supported the project and helped with it´s realization.
Being one of the lucky visitors who got the ticket and have seen the fashion show I dare to say there is a huge potential thatSlovenia becomes the next fashion destination. In my oppinion the success of Slovene fashion designers should also be promoted in tourism materials, even if fashion shows are normally closed for the broad public. By the way next Fashion Week is becoming traditional. Not only Paris, Milan, London, New York, Tokio- next year we meet again at Kino Šiška, Ljubljana. You won´t be sorry!
