Slovenia is well-connected with neighbouring countries by train. You can get here using direct trains from all adjacent countries (Italy, Austria, Hungary ancd Croatia) as well as from Germany, Switzerland, Yugoslavia and Macedonia.

- Simplon Expres from Geneva
- the Bled train from Villach
The IC Intercity trains are the most popular, as they are fast, comfortable and cheap. Sleeper trains go to Vienna and Munich.
